Acai Berry Cleanse Scam - Acai Berries are Good, Scams are Not

The acai berry cleanse scam is giving acai berries a bad name.  We have all seen the fake blogs with pictures telling you the owner of the blog is a 30 something mom that lost 30 pounds or more with free acai berry cleanse supplements.  I think we all know these are fake, but they trick a lot of people into believing claims that are unrealistic.

I believe acai berry supplements are very beneficial and have written several other pages on the topic.  Unfortunately, when it comes to the acai berry cleanse scam there is nothing positive to say about it, but I will show you what to look for so you don't get scammed too.

Does this picture look familiar?

Look closely at Before and After photos. If they look professional they are probably stock photos. Using stock photos is a perfectly acceptable practice unless you are lying to people pretending to be the person in the photo.

What Does the Acai Berry Cleanse Scam Look Like?

If you are going to protect yourself from the acai berry cleanse scam, you need to know what to look for.

A scam site will look like a blog.  It will have a testimonial of the person who supposedly lost weight and published the blog.  The story will talk about how she (it is almost always a female) had no energy until she found these free trials for an acai berry supplement and a colon cleanse product.

There will be impressive before and after pictures of the person telling the story.  The picture on the right is one that I have seen a lot.  It costs $1 at www.stockxpert.com and they have lots more just like it.  Sometimes the pictures are real but compressed with a photo editing program - all you have to do is shrink a picture horizontally and it looks like a person lost a bunch of weight.  I use stock pictures all the time for illustrations and there is nothing wrong with that unless you are lying about the person in the picture being you.

After the story and recommendation to order specific supplements, there will be a comments section at the bottom.  In that section there will be some comments saying how great the supplements worked.  The comments section will be closed so you can't leave a comment or if it allows you to put in a comment it will never be shown.

The fancy fake blogs (flogs for short) will detect where you are in the world and say something like "Hi this is Shelly from Houston, TX and I want to help you . . . ".  No matter where in the world you are, it will look like the person is your neighbor.

How to Protect Yourself From a Scam

The easiest way to protect yourself from a scam is to ignore all the hype.  If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

You also need to pay attention to what you are signing up for.  If you want a free trial, that is ok.  You just need to realize you will be charged for future shipments unless you cancel.  Some people have had problems with certain companies.  If you are worried about extra charges, use a prepaid card that won't accept charges unless you have money in there.

If you want to avoid all the potential problems of free trials, there are lots of great deals out there.  Many of the free trial supplements are also available in great deals like by 3 get 2 free.  You can even buy single bottles with no strings attached.  Just do a little research and you will be ok.

I will say it one more time:  if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.  Read the fine print and you will know what you are signing up for.

So What are Acai Berries Really Good For?

Acai berries are a fruit that is super high in antioxidants.  They also contain beneficial dietary fiber and omega fatty acids.  Antioxidants have been shown in many studies to make you healthier and prevent disease because they neutralize free radicals that destroy healthy cells in your body.

I was one of many ppl who decided to try this acai and colon cleanser.

First I guess I was lucky I did an internet credit card through my bank so they create one just for one transaction, they were asking me all the time I should give them a new number because they already sent the package and they needed to charge some extra, as they were having problems with the previous one.

They did charged for the amount of the bottle, but my bank saw it as a scam and gave me the money back.. lucky again.

So they kept on sending mails saying I MUST send them a new credit card, I just said I never received anything so there was no credit card for them, funny enough 2 days later I received this acai berry blast bottle

FROM CHINA

with no name or anything whatsoever

I guess I scammed the scammers? it was just pure luck

but I would advice not to do it, then dont stop not even when u ask to cancel, they continue charging you...

Good luck

and btw? both together, they DO work!!! try to find something for real, in a reliable place...

I am glad to hear that it worked well for you. Also glad you were able to not get ripped off from one of the scam sites. I have not tried Acai Blast, but have ordered and cancelled without any problems Acai Burn and several other supplements so I know you can get the free trials without paying too much. Using a prepaid card or one time card does help make sure you are in control.

Please note that if you are ordering supplements and not paying for them by canceling charges for supplements you received, that is stealing and no better than the scam companies.

Best way to find if you are faced with scams for Acai Berries is when you find a site ot review, take a sentence and search the net. If it appears again, it is more than likely sales copy generally used by scammers.

Cleansing our body is quite easy with the help of Acai berry fruit. As it is available naturally, no side effects will be produced on consuming it. This hub is very informative. Nice hub.

Thanks for warning us about the scammers. I've been skeptical about a lot of these products and it's good that you have it in writing here. I appreciate this informative and useful post.

There are a lot of scammers in the net and they ruin the usefulness of the Acai Berry. Thanks for the article and the explanations.

The Acai Berry scam has gone to a point where other major web 2.0 site is forbidding their contributors to write anything related to this topic. Glad you put some light on this concern.

Acai berry is very good fruit. It really helps, but unfortunatelly bad scammers made it sound like something spammy and bad.

It is evident that you know your subject, and I guess this is a very needed hub. I can't stand those people who try to convince you the amazing benefits of products they have most likely never even used in real life.

Selling a knock-off that is actually harmful is of course even worse.

I'm surprised to hear that acai berries contain omega fatty acids - I'm assuming omega-3s? Do you know if the acai berry is a more potent antioxidant than grape seed/grape skin (resveratrol) or pycnogenol? I do take those and have heard about acai berry, but I'm not sure its potency.

Thanks for a super hub on the topic!

wondering if the acai berries really work? have been seeing alot of this around so I am inclined to be curious about it. great info on the product though

Big Mama,

There are omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids in acai berries. As far as antioxidants, there are more than in resveratrol, but there are different benefits for each. I think there is evidence that supports that supplementing with both would be good, but no hard facts yet.

Acai berries and many other antioxidant rich fruits are not only good for you, but a must as part of your diet in general. The thing is we all need to have balanced diets -which doesn't mean extremes. Unfortunately there are too many scams and when people get burnt they will lash back at the acai berry and not at those who are promoting it.

Wow! Great timing. My sister was just talking to me this past weekend about the acai berry. I offered to help her check out the Internet to see what was out there. She pointed me to a couple of sites she had already looked at and wanted my opinion on them. I'll have to send her here to read more and not get taken by any acai berry scam artists. Thanks...

I would give much more creedance to this article if its author could have used grammar that was more in keeping with adult level literacy. At least do a spell check!!

Dave, do you run a scam website? I bet you do because your criticism is completely unfounded.

But on the off hand chance you are an English teacher in hiding, I did a spell check, but didn't find any errors so I have to assume you are angry for me calling you out.

Shame on you!!!

Can some one tell if the powder or tablet form does posses the properties listed in favour of acai berry?

Dave 2 years ago

Powders and tablets can have the same amount of benefits. The best way to figure this out is to find one that lists the orac values. The supplement I take has 3300 orac per serving in the drink. They have a powder that has 3300 orac per scoop. Their capsules only have 550, but they recommend 6 capsules for a serving which gives you the same 3300. I have seen other supplements who claim to be just as good, but have not seen one that is above about 2500 orac per serving.

I thought the article was very well written and objective.

ACAI berries have a number of great benefits, especially as an antioxidant, however as far as weight loss forget it. Sure they may in a minor way contribute to weight loss but there are no studies showing weight loss with Acai. If your primary purpose for taking Acai is to lose weight, you'll probably be greatly disappointed. But that's like a guy taking some nutritional supplement that greatly increases his energy but saying it didn't work because it didn't make him taller.

PJ 2 years ago

I'd give more credence to Dave's criticism about grammar and spelling if he didn't spell credence as 'creedance'.

Paul 2 years ago

If you want to lose weight you need to exercise and eat well!! There are heaps of eating programs that don't kill the bank, i use acai supplements and find i have more energy and recover from workouts a little faster, that's the only benefit i have recognised after 5 months of use.

healthgoji 2 years ago

Of course often with a potent antioxidant we don't see some long term benefits right away like how they help slow down the aging process and prevent age related aches and pains.

Great advise about the scams. I never thought about the fake pictures though. You certainly make a good point when you say that if something seems to good to be true it probably is not true. People love quick fixes and gimmicks.

Abby 23 months ago

It's funny actually because you don't even NEED to be scammed with internet tricks. You can buy the berrys and colon cleanser in any health shop for half the price anyway! I just found 1500g of the Acai Berry and 500g of colon cleanser - altogther costing £20 (about $40!). Just be clever people....

The BEST WAY to get healthy and lose weight is DIET and, most importantly, EXERCISE.

rACHIES 20 months ago

i ALSO FELL FOR THIS BUT Mastercard like b- slapped them and i got all my money back...

As for the actual product i lost 20 (with moderate excersize and some what healthy eating as well) it works and i want to do it again but im afraid i wont find another product like that one... and who can beat a free sample??

Tammara 17 months ago

Just found this after paying for a free sample, I've not yet recieved my sample but it's coming from the us (or so i'm lead to believe and i'm in the UK, but I've noticed to cancel they have a list of phone numbers all around the world but the ones they send to you in the email are either 1 to 5 numbers out, from the ones on there site, I saw this and alarms started ringing, how in the world am I going to cancle with now return email address and false numbers! I think I may need to make a trip down to the bank :(

chloe 14 months ago

the weight loss thing is obviously a scam because to burn fat you have to exercise, pure and simple. there are no 'quick fix' answers, and, if you are to lazy to exercise than you deserve to be fat!!
